Scott Farms UK, Ltd., our European marketing arm/subsidiary, sells our N.C.-grown Scott Farms sweet potatoes and quality produce from exclusive suppliers who grow various vegetables for multiple retailers, wholesalers and caterers throughout UK and other European markets.

 

Scott Farms UK, Ltd. extends our fourth generation family business into the European market. Established in 2006, our subsidiary has seen phenomenal growth as the sweet potato, popular for its nutritional benefits low-fat and low-cholesterol properties, is rapidly becoming a staple of the European diet.
Our experienced team understands the need for quality assurances and farm traceability. They bring this knowledge and expertise to the importation of all our products, ensuring quality supplies at all times.

In our first season, we exported 35 containers of sweet potatoes into the UK. We currently export around 1,000 containers – that’s 20 thousand tons of sweet potatoes. We are now a key sweet potato supplier to the supermarkets. Sweet potatoes are one of the fastest growing vegetable choices for the European consumer. Our growth reflects our ability to support European retailers in meeting growing consumer demand for high-quality sweet potatoes 52 weeks a year.

Our excellent performance means our sweet potatoes arrive in the European in perfect condition, retaining their natural goodness. With complete traceability, our sweet potatoes are GLOBALGAP certified and meet the highest of standards. Scott Farms UK, Ltd. is also certified by Marks and Spencer’s “Field to Fork” program, the leading program for standards in fresh produce.
Scott Farms has invested in a new storage facility to ship sweet potatoes to the Europe. This will enable us to expand our business, knowing that we have the infrastructure in place to continue to support our customers and meet the high standards we have set.

As well as continuing to grow in the UK, we are also looking to expand throughout Europe. We are already supplying sweet potatoes to the Netherlands, Spain, France, Ireland, and Germany.

Scott Farms exports its Dri-Pak and Scott Farms brand sweet potatoes in 6 and 18 kilo cases and bulk bins of 500 kilos. We also supply pre-packed poly bags packed to customers’ weight-packing requirements.

 

Scott Farms takes great care in the handling, packaging, and transportation of our sweet potatoes. We place great importance on making sure they arrive fresh in the Europe and in perfect condition.

Scott Farms is recognized as one of the industry’s leaders. As such, we supply many of Europe’s largest retailers.

In Europe, 95% of Scott Farms’ business is in the fresh market. In the UK, it’s about 90%, but more sweet potatoes are being sold to restaurants and foodservice firms as customer demand increases. Sweet Potatoes
